With US-Russian changing expressions and grins replacing smiles, it seems pretty odd that both will enjoy the tangible profits of mutual understating. And when Russia said it won’t amass arms, it seems ridiculous, but it’s not.
More arms denote more power, is a known principle. While conflicts looming with the NATO and many other European nations, including Poland, Georgia, Czech Republic, will Russian commit such a blunder? No chance.
Well, as of now, Russian has all the reasons to stay cool. After arms deals with Venezuela, Iran, South-East Asia (India and China in particular) Hamas Govt., and recent $1bn deal with Indonesia, Russia has already transferred the fatigue to US to fight against its arms first.
Even US asked for Russian arms to fight against terrorism in Afghanistan. How good is the Idea to fight against Russian arms with Russian arms? Still, these arms deals not only brought economic prosperity but also demonstrate its influence in Middle East and Latin America. Therefore, for the time being Russia is at ease.
Furthermore, Russia threatening to withdraw from the treaty to curb the Conventional Arms Forces in Europe, tested missiles and the ‘father of all bombs,’ just after the US plan to install Missile Defense came into being. Amid such confrontations while Russia and the West seem returning to the ‘Cold War’ stance, it is difficult to believe that Russia will stick to its promises long whatsoever.
