US apprehensions of possible attacks from N. Korea and Iran are imminent as US relations with both countries have soured due to the confrontations on nuclear enrichment program, which former successfully achieved last year and latter is covertly pursuing while putting IAEA obligations at bay.

Czech Republic, Poland and Georgia have offered their land for the Missile Defense Initiation (MDI). Russia defied the US endeavors and threatened to disobey arms treaty that encapsulates the Conventional Forces in Europe (CEF). Russia deems it violation of NATO treaty, whereby, US pledged not to deploy any military assets on the war pact countries. Czech has given its assent for US liberators but didn’t accept US radar deployment.

US efforts to placate Russia on the issue weren’t successful last month and the visits of US defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice didn’t produce any considerable result. However, the new efforts are to sooth Russia with more logic and transparency that US is harping on long since, but Russia is unconvinced and considers the MDI a threat to its sovereignty and integrity. Victoria Nuland, US Ambassador to NATO, said in an exclusive discussion in Prague that:

The defense system was to cover all of U.S. allies. We have said repeatedly that this is a defensive system, that in fact the interceptors carry no warheads, that they are two-stage missiles — they can’t even catch anything coming from Russia — and that we are prepared to offer full transparency, full verification of all of those things.

US wants to install missile interceptors to shield against any possible attack from Iran since it already has protection in Alaska and California for N. Korean offensive. US have, I think, an overweening ambition to rule over the world while having the sharp vigil in sensitive regions. Russia is the biggest power after US and MDI in Russian neighbors may intend to keep its activities under check as US have other options for MDI like Turkey and Bulgaria.

Russia does not want US presence on its borders. US offer to call in the Russian experts to examine the construction of the Missile base has some credibility but doesn’t reveal the clear picture. Russia has its own strategic concerns that can’t be ruled out because relations between the two were never cordial. Finally, US pretension to call in Russian experts and its insistence that MDI is only meant to trace the missiles from Iran, is a cock and bull story of US, which Russia rightly defies.
