It seems the bilateral relation between the United States and China are improving. The Chinese govt. finally decided to let the U.S. food inspectors into the country. This would improve the ‘national image’ of China. Recently, Chinese reputation was on stake due to some scandals related to food safety issues. As an acknowledgment of this welcoming gesture from China, the US may relax tourist visa norms and procedures for Chinese tour groups, as currently, it is difficult for a Chinese tour group to obtain one.

The bilateral negotiations started off at a ministerial level with a bump. The meeting started off with a Chinese vice premier Wu Yi accusing US of false allegations against China. The US claimed that the Chinese food products are unsafe and shoddy. Even though annoyed, China decided to let the US inspectors in for verifying the food products being exported.

There were about 14 different agreements and memorandum of understanding that were signed between China and the US yesterday at Beijing. The issues were mostly related to environment, food, health, technology and even biofuels. This seems to be just the first step towards a better America-China relationship, with the Sino-US relations remaining disturbed till date.
