Religion was introduced to unite people and with this originated the places of worship. Whenever one felt deserted and motiveless, these places of worship served as a channel to set things right. Historically we have seen these privileged religious institutions serving as political arenas and even moving people’s thoughts however the changing state of affairs has stained the image of every religion but can’t be worse than Catholic Churches.
The dark clouds are hovering over the sanctity of the Church, as the sacred place is degenerating with prevailing corruption. The highest ranks in the holy place are occupied by the lechers who forgot their religion and vows of celibacy when the whim of voluptuousness overpowers them and particularly when their impetus finds no reprove - for church being the unquestionable authority.
Recent incidents that are blots on the Christianity includes ‘Los Angeles sex abuse case‘ and now the Arch Bishop in Zimbabwe is accused of adultery, who forgot his duty to guide the folks to attain the final goal (salvation) and joined the political fray to criticize president Mugabe. Archbishop Pius Ncube didn’t even mind to share his bed with a married woman, who confirmed that the relation lasted for two years.
Are these Mugabe’s machinations to parry a critic who owe a high rank in cathedral, but the pictures on the nation channels convey everything to shove the doubts off, if there is any.
Where is the godliness? Can we now differentiate between a layman and Bishop who vows to be a celibate but breaks his pledge whenever he feels like or what if the benedictions come with the stink of adultery, there is no one who can reprove or guide you.
Now I am left with nothing to say but to quote lines from ‘Bhagwad Geeta’ that says:
Oh God thy grace is most earnestly sought; to protect humanity from committing errors.
In the world of faith, which speaks the language of forgiveness and that deals in the currency of hope, it only seems that our society is learning a new language of lechery and getting bankrupt for the currency, that is hope. It only seems that the devils are guarding the gods, the saviors have become the destroyers; I only wonder where to seek benedictions now?
