rajula riding on obama wave
World is increasingly becoming US-centered which is clearly visible in the minds of the people across the continents. In its latest manifestation of identifying with American interest, Mr. Nicholas Rajula, a Kenyan candidate in elections in his constituency, claims to be a distant cousin of Senator Barack Obama. The only credible evidence of relationship between the two hangs on the unverified information that fathers of Obama and Rajula share the same birthplace.

Rajula acquired fame last year when Obama visited and spent some time with his family in Kenya. This was a big boost to Rajula’s political career and he was in the forefront of Kenyan media for his links with the US-Presidential candidate, Obama.

No doubt, the publicity is helping Rajula and poor Kenyan people are being attracted to his public meetings in which he makes loud claims of securing the help of the US to rid them of their poverty and hunger.

The African and Asian politicians are known for their false promises and are always eager to identify themselves with top-notch western politicians. Such type of news is not new to Africa, this has happened in Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast and Somalia.

Riding on the wave of being Obama’s cousin, Rajula hopes to capture the attention of a significant portion of Kenyan electorates. But, it is not yet clear whether Obama has blessed him or not for his political adventure. No doubt, it will secure the support of Black Africans for Obama in the democratic primary elections.
