afghanistan attacks

Even as rumors are galore that U.S. has decided to finally cut on its troops in war-hit Iraq, the NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer called for allies to add on their troop numbers in militancy-marred Afghanistan. Can peace be won by war?

War seems to be intensifying in southern Afghanistan, with the Taliban militants building on their attacks and weaponry. And as war seems improbable, NATO chief has called for allies to come forward to dismantle Taliban once and for all. However, lack of adequate troops is coming in the way of the allied forces that invaded Afghanistan ever since the war on terror began to oust Taliban.

United Kingdom forces lead the alliance from the front in fighting Taliban. Rest other allies seem to be flying from the war front because of frequent suicide attacks from improvised explosive devices by the militant outfit. But, is military occupancy that important in Afghanistan?

Afghanistan is in midst of violence for years. Bloodbath is a daily newsmaker in the country with thousands already having lost their lives and hundreds maimed for life, the picture of Afghanistan is gloomy. The NATO forces have been in the country to throw Taliban and restore peace in the country. Taliban was nearly ousted, yet its immediate regrouping is posing problems for the allies and the people. Taliban having all kinds of modern weaponry seems to be eluding the western forces, who are wearing out under intense pressure from world over.

What fate lies ahead of Afghanistan remains a million dollars question. Yet, the fact is that peace is the urgent requirement of war-battered Afghanis, who have been a witness to the recurrent bloodbath in their country.
