S.African freedom fighter and former president of S.Africa, is honored by human rights group Amnesty. On Wednesday Mr. Mandela received the Ambassador of Conscience Award, this award is amongst the most prestigious honor given each year by the human rights group Amnesty International. The award was presented to Mr. Mandela by Nobel Prize-winning author Nadine Gordimer. He described Mandela is amongst the greatest man of 20th centaury. He also highlighted his works which resulted in improving the world as a whole. Nadine Gordimer added that Mandela is amongst the greatest leader of modern history.

While entering the awarding hall 88 years old Mandela seems to be quiet tired, but while addressing the mob, the words of Mandela highlighted his spirit towards humanity and non-violence. He told people that they should neither tolerate injustice nor practice it. He also emphasized on becoming stronger against every sought of discrimination of society.

Mandela’s life is itself a name for struggle. He spent his 27 years in a rigorous imprisonment with hard labor work. He was released in 1990 and later on his dedicated work resulted South Africa’s first all-race election in 1994 and became first black leader of his country.

Mandela’s ideology was based on the basis of Gandhian principles of non- violence and non -cooperation, due to which in 1993 he was honored with noble peace prize.

According to his view, main reason behind discrimination and justice is poverty; therefore he emphasized more stress in eradicating poverty. He also told that since the poverty prevails there is a no meaning of freedom.

He reminded that the poverty is amongst the main root which is interrupting the world from achieving complete freedom, due which the program for eradicating poverty should be started from grass root level by various organizations.
