The infamous 1994 genocide in Rwanda, where thousands of Tutsis were killed by the notorious Hutu force – the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), one of the most dreaded terrorist outfits in Africa, is far from over as the war is spilling over to the new generation of Hutu rebels. The new Hutu recruits of FDLR are children in their teens or youths in their early 20s, whose parents have fled Rwanda to neighboring Congo. In Congo, the FDLR is a dreaded group who has forcefully occupied large areas of eastern Congo, plundering villages, raping and killing the Congolese, many of them belonging to the Tutsi tribe.
Hundreds of children in the 7000 strong FDLR army are taught hatred towards the Tutsis. Fathers of many of the young Hutu recruits are dreaded militiamen themselves. A large number of these Hutu youths have been orphaned in the 1994 genocide and have been brought up by the Hutu soldiers in self-exile in Congo. These children do not even have proper memories of Rwanda and many of them having being born in Congo have never seen their country of origin. However, the only thing that is driving these children is to liberate Rwanda from the Tutsis, killing the enemy, whom they call inyenzi, meaning cockroach in the Hutu language.
While the Hutu children have lost their childhood to Kalashnikovs and bullets, the most-wanted leaders of FDLR are leading a lavish lifestyle in various parts of Europe funded by gold and diamond smuggling and extortion. The Hutu leaders who have found safe havens in Europe are oblivion of the Hutu youths dying painful deaths back in Africa. Some are being killed in battles and there are some others who are being killed while trying to escape the clutches of the FDLR. The new generation Hutus have no future and their present is plunged in hatred and death.
