Congo President Joseph Kabilla has invited rebels to join the national army to abstain from execution, as the government would not tolerate intolerance. Is it a move towards peace stabilization in the conflict-marred Congo?
Joseph Kabila’s dictum comes amidst intensifying violence in Congo that has been witness to brutality and savageness of its worst kind. It’s been years since the war engulfed the African nation that started from a skirmish between neighboring Rwanda and Congo. But, the years on have seen only aggravation of the situation that soon flared the entire country. Ever since ethnic cleansing, mass murders, rape, genocide, human slaughter, brutal killings have ruled the roost.

Congo wants Rwanda to restrain Tutsis rebels, while the latter wants the former to control the Hutu rebels (FDLR), the inability of both have aggravated the misery of the common Congoan, who have suffered the most in this fight for survival, power and control
Lakhs have been forced to desert their homes and an equal number killed; women raped and physically assaulted in this nameless war between the Hutus and the Tutsis and thanks to the inability on the part of the government to rein in such a sacrilege of humanity, the country has only seen blood splitting and viciousness.
No beacon of peace in the war-devastated Democratic Republic of Congo is on the anvil and the victims of war will continue to suffer in the mayhem.
