middle east hates to listen to bush

George WMD Bush and peace are two opposites and are never expected to reinforce each other. Bush’s Israel visit is nothing, but his last ditch effort to win over the common Americans, who suffer from the bloodbath, the US is splitting in Iraq. This is his first visit to Israel in seven years of presidency. Nothing more than anti-Iran sentiments and pro-Israeli solution to the Middle East problem can be expected from a hawk, for whom, armaments and weapons hold the key to solving any problem.

It is Bush’s stubbornness that drove Palestinians towards the Hamas and Hezbollah, bereftting the moderate Fatah of control over them. The silence of White House that encouraged Israel to carry on death and destruction in Lebanon is on the pretext of ending Hezbollah. The world under US pressure denied the HAMAS government of any international aid and finally this has culminated in intra-Palestinian civil war.

Seeing these happenings in last two years, can we trust Bush that he is making genuine attempts for making peace? A hawkish vice-president like Dick Cheney being his deputy, Bush is always close to the hardliner Zionist lobby. His stout support to every military action carried out by Israel is an indication that his regime is partial and one-sided. His ‘crusades’ against the Muslims robs him of any respect and credibility before the Islamic world.

Just by visiting Galilee, Jerusalem or the Holy Land and by promising peace, Bush cannot wash his hands from the blood of innocent people, killed in last seven years of Israel-Palestine conflict. People like me, who are keen watchers of world politics, can hardly believe his call for withdrawal of Jewish settlements from Palestine territories. Rather his visit, meetings and call for peace are sure to add more distrust and fire to the already burning Middle East problem.
