Is the 9′11 terror surfacing again? Or is it just another minor fanatic that had nearly caused one more instance of damage?

This time, the target was the tallest building in Latin America, the 740-foot high Torre Mayor on the main Reforma avenue of Mexico City.

Police have discovered a small handmade explosive in one of the cars parked inside the garage of the tallest building in Latin America, according to the authorities. Above 10,000 people were reportedly evacuated from the 55 floor building as soon as the bomb had been found. The bomb squad department confirmed that if the bomb had exploded, damage would have only been limited to the cars, and would not have had a large-scale effect.

According to a news report, the bomb squad retrieved the device in time. Public Security Department of the city said that the explosive was made of three metal tubes packed with gunpowder, cables and a cell phone. These materials were fastened together with tape and had been planted inside the car.

One of the offices of the Torre Mayor tower was warned over the phone by an anonymous person that a bomb has been planted inside one of the 13 parking levels of the building. This particular car had been reported to be stolen, as stated by the authorities.

Apparently this looks like a rather amateurish effort at causing a minor explosion, probably to terrify the authorities or one of the organizations operating in the Torre Mayor. It could also have been a reckless gang of teenagers playing truant, or a person seeking personal revenge in an innovative method. There is a option to relate this incident to a lot of trivial motives, which have nothing to do with the word ‘terrorism’.

The Office of the federal Attorney General is looking into the occurrence. However, no preliminary declarations of liability have been there. It is quite evident that the authorities are now trying to ignore the incident, realizing that it is not a very important one.

However, it might be wise to probe a bit deeper into this failed attempt to produce an explosion. The building in question is a very important one, containing a large number of people at a time. It would be an evident target if someone with a more sinister intension wants to plan an explosion in this area. It is best if this has nothing to do with ‘terrorism’, but there still remains a doubt whether this incident was an instance of ‘testing’ the security system of the building and also the loopholes in it. It would be useful to ensure that a large-scale instance of mass destruction is not about to follow this one.
