In a startling revelation, London’s Scotland Yard has unveiled a series of videos, maps and attack plans by the terror group, Al-Qaeda. The terror organization had planned for a plot to assault New York’s financial district six months before the September 11.

The revelation comes on the eve of sentence to Al Qaeda general, Dhiren Barot, who was nabbed in 2004, to a total of 136 years in London prison by Woolwich Crown Court. Mohammed Naveed Bhatti, Junade Feroze, Zia Ul Haq, Abdul Aziz Jalil, Omar Abdur Rehman, Qaisar Shaffi and Nadeem Tarmohamed, were all active partners in the deadly plans to attack targets in the United Kingdom and United States. Barot has actively fought with mujahadeen forces in Kashmir and served as an instructor at an Afghan training camp, besides being the mastermind behind planning various attacks in London and elsewhere.

It was also disclosed to the court that these eight terror suspects had planned bombings on both sides of the Atlantic. They were also planning for a series of coordinated attacks in the United Kingdom included packing three limousines with gas cylinders and explosives before setting them off in underground car parks, which if successful would have caused huge loss of life, panic and widespread disruption.

The map clearly highlights the route Barot took around Lower Manhattan in April 2001, as he shot short videos of each site, from New York Stock Exchange and surrounding areas, NYSE Visitor Center entrance, NYPD officer in a police car, Entrance to NYSE, Liberty Plaza, North and South Towers of World Trade Center, Fire Department New York station to Nitrogen gas cylinders that provide nitrogen for the New York subway system. He took special note of the security in and around the targeted buildings to make sure that the bombs are planted in the best place where there is heavy traffic flow making sure that the number of casualties is more. And in doing so, he made sure to track down the escape routes for his bombers through subway and sewage tunnels.

He was very careful in planning attack on the Prudential building, suggested driving the gas filled limousines, blowing up an oil tanker in the process to bring down the building.

The documents also indicate the terrorists believing the Madrid bombings of March 11, 2004, as a respectable plan that deserved to be imitated.

However, after the Sept. 11 attacks, the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan subsequently followed, that left the terrorists run helter-skelter, leading to the failure of the plot.
