Enduring political and economic stir in Zimbabwe under Robert Mugabe have forced African neighbors to intervene into the matter and bring some sort of stability in the chaotic nation.

Top leaders of the 14 southern African countries, including Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, have gathered to attend a summit in Tanzania, possibly to discuss the political and economic crisis in Zimbabwe.

Bearing the past political turmoil in mind, the summit holds a great significance for the future and the destiny of Zimbabwe, for it will discuss or decide the political career of Robert Mugabe and may compel him to withdraw his candidature for the forthcoming elections in Zimbabwe next year.

In the past few years, political disorder and anarchy in Zimbabwe have reached the highest point as leaders of the opposition parties and protesters are facing a hard time in the chaotic nation.

In the meantime, when President Robert Mugabe has just arrived for the summit in Tanzania, Zimbabwe’s police in a fresh crackdown on the opposition leaders have arrested Mr. Tsvangirai, head of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change, for the second time within a month.

Mugabe has drawn wide criticism for mishandling of land reforms, economic mismanagement, corruption and a deteriorating human rights in Zimbabwe. His policies have caused economic disintegration and massive malnourishment in the poor nation. Young people are disillusioned with the growing unemployment and less job prospect.
